I have lived in the Halifax Regional Municipality for almost my entire life. I grew up on the Eastern Shore in Three Fathom Harbour and lived in Halifax while I went to university. In 2010, my wife and I bought our first home on Tulip Street in Downtown Dartmouth.
I have a Masters degree in Urban Planning from Dalhousie University and a Masters degree in Political Science from the University of Calgary. My undergraduate is from the University of King’s College.
After graduating from Dalhousie in 2008, I found work in planning at Public Works and Government Services Canada. Over the last 8 years, I have worked on a variety of planning and real estate projects in the Maritimes.
I have worked on several community projects. I founded Tuilps on Tulip Street in 2012, which saw my neighbours and I plant over 10,000 tulips on our four block street. I have served on the board of the Planning and Design Centre, the Dartmouth Heritage Museum, led Jane’s Walk Halifax, written for Spacing Atlantic and helped organize Switch Dartmouth.
I met my wife Michelle McCann while at university in Calgary. Michelle and I have two daughters, Jana and Marilla.
